Ingredients

  1. 4 cups of water
  2. 2 tablespoons of loose green tea or 4 green tea bags
  1. 2 whole cinnamon sticks, broken up
  2. 4 star anise pods, whole

Directions

  1. Pour water into the kettle, turn the kettle on and the red light will indicate it is on.
  2. Press the program button and the blue light indicator will come on.
  3. Set temperature for Green Tea (175°F) and the unit will start.
  4. Add the ingredients to the tea infuser once the water reaches the desired temperature.
  5. Steep the tea for approximately 3 minutes.
  6. One the time has elapsed, very carefully raise the tea infuser from the water.
  7. Serve immediately or leave it on the kettle base to keep warm until you are ready to serve.

Sugar (or cubes)

  1. Take some water in a saucepan and add sugar or cubes in water and cook on a medium flame for about two minutes, while stirring occasionally.
  2. Now as the water comes to a boil, add tea leaves and keep stirring on medium flame for about two minutes.
  3. Now let the water infuse all the goodness from the tea leaves on low flame and cover the lid for about another two minutes.
  4. Strain the black tea immediately and enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 170g sultanas
  • 170g raisins
  • 1 orange, zested
  • 300ml hot strong Earl Grey or Lady Grey tea
  • 2 medium eggs, lightly beaten
  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 200g light soft brown sugar
  • butter, for greasing, plus extra to serve

Method

  • STEP 1: Mix the sultanas, raisins and orange zest in a large mixing bowl. Pour over the tea and cover the bowl. Leave to sit for a minimum of 6 hours or ideally overnight to allow the dried fruit to soak up all the liquid.
  • STEP 2: Heat the oven to 180C/160 fan/gas 4. Grease and line a 900g loaf tin. Add the eggs, flour and sugar to the soaked fruit, ensuring everything is well combined. Spoon the mixture into the tin and place in the centre of the oven for 1 hour 30 mins or until firm to the touch. Leave to cool in the tin for 15 mins before transferring to a wire rack.
  • STEP 3: Cut into thick slices and serve with butter. To store, wrap tightly and keep in an airtight container for up to five days. The loaf will taste even better after a few days.
