How to use Oster electric kettle with temperature control?
- Position the power base on a flat, heat resistant surface, as close as possible to a power outlet.
- Follow cord routing in power base according to exit patterns. Proper cord routing will result in the power base laying flat when kettle is placed in base. DO not operate kettle if power base is not flat. If power base is not flat, remove kettle from power base and repeat cord placement instructions.
- To fill with water, open the lid. Fill the electric kettle with water to the desired level. NOTE: Do not exceed the “MAX” water level mark indicated on the electric kettle.
- Plug the electric cord into an electric outlet. Digital display will read 212°F. Change temperature by pressing the temperature change buttons. Press Power Button to start the heating process. Power Button will pulse until the set temperature is reached. NOTE: Once set temperature is reached, the kettle will automatically shut off. Display will stay illuminated for 10 minutes while displaying the current water temperature. NOTE: Lid should always be firmly closed. The electric kettle will not turn off if the lid is left open.
- Carefully lift the kettle from the power base and pour the hot water. NOTE: Once kettle is removed from the base, the digital temperature display will shut off and will display the default temperature of 212°F when the kettle is placed back on to the base.
- The kettle will not re-boil until the Power button is pressed to turn the kettle ON. If you need to reheat, wait 25 seconds, allowing kettle to cool down, then Power on.
Cleaning
- Empty the kettle and lift lid.
- Grip the top part of the filter with index finger and thumb and pull upwards. You may have to hold kettle while removing filter. Caution: Keep fingers clear of mesh. Pressing into mesh may damage filter.
- To clean the filter, rinse under a tap while brushing it gently wit a soft brush.
- To refit filter, once again hold filter with index finger and thumb. Gently push filter back into the kettle until you hear a click. The filter is now reattached. Gently tug on filter to ensure filter is attached properly.
- Rinse out kettle with fresh water and it’s ready for use.
Decalcification
Care and cleaning of your electric kettle
- Mineral deposits in tap water may cause scale deposits to form inside the electric kettle after frequent use. To remove this scale build-up, fill the kettle with a solution of 3 cups of white vinegar and 3 cups water. Let sit overnight.
- Empty the vinegar solution from the electric kettle. Remove any stain remaining inside by rubbing with a damp cloth.
- Fill the electric kettle with clean water. Place kettle on power base and bring to a boil, then discard water. Repeat and the electric kettle will be ready to use.
- The electric kettle will not operate again until the Power Button is pressed downward.
- Always remove kettle from power base and disconnect power base from electrical outlet before cleaning. Do not immerse kettle or power base in water or other liquid.
- The outside of the electric kettle can be wiped with a soft damp cloth.
Oster electric kettle with temperature control customer review
Great kettle- love the look and temp control, not the beeping so much.
I bought this kettle because it was on sale and liked the idea of a temperature control option. I’ve had this kettle for about 2 months and use it almost daily with no problems so far. My only complaint would be the loud beeping at the end of heating and using the buttons, but the features of this kettle far outweigh the negatives for me, especially for the price.
Pros:
–Has a 7 cup capacity and heats very quickly (about 6 minutes to a full boil/212 degrees F at full capacity).
–Looks nice in my kitchen and is pretty lightweight. I love the locking lid too!
–Temperature control option (initially at 212, but goes down from 200 to 110 in increments of 10 degrees when using temp control buttons). Mine came with a small guide for the best temperatures to use for coffee, French press, and different types of tea as well.
Cons:
–The buttons make a pretty loud beeping sound when adjusting the temperature or starting the kettle, and it makes 5 loud beeps upon auto shutoff. It would be nice to have a volume control button or option to turn it off. My friend has a higher-end model which has a nice ‘ding’ sound at the end of heating which I prefer, but it doesn’t have the temp control option.
–There is a water window near the handle, but without a backlight, so it is a bit hard to see.
Overall, I gave it 4 stars due to the beeping, but this kettle is a very good deal for the price.
