Haden Perth 1.7L Kettle, Slate Grey, Cordless review
Pretty pleased, a few minor issues.
This kettle is a really good looking unit. It is nicely made, and looks better quality than the price would indicate, with a coated almost enamel looking exterior. I bought it as specifically I wanted a neutral yet grey/blue coloured kettle with a nice style to it, I wanted minimum stainless steel (having found it terrible to keep clean) and a large water level window. Many kettles nowadays have the water guage behind the handle, but at least with this one it is a good size and can be seen around the sides of the handle.You can also see the water bubbling and boiling away as the window is such a good size.
The click on switch has a blue LED light, which is quite attractive and makes it obvious that it is switched on. It isn’t the quietest kettle ever, but not too noisy either, however that wasn’t a feature I was particularly interested in. The silver part on the handle is plastic, so doesn’t show hand prints, but the ring on the base unit and the spout and lid are stainless steel. If you are looking for a cool touch kettle, this isn’t the one for you as it does get hot externally, which doesn’t bother me. On full capacity it took about 4 minutes for the water to boil from cold. The spout does send steam in the direction of the lid, so that steams up a bit during boiling.
The lid doesn’t really open wide enough for my liking (hence dropping a star), and if you were so inclined to stick your hand in as part of cleaning it out, that wouldn’t be possible. All in all though, and I’ve only had it a few hours and boiled it a few times (but will update if any negative changes) it seems reliable and a purchase I am relatively pleased with.

Amazon reviewer BndSrvnt mentioned ‘Bought this as a Christmas gift for my wife. She is very pleased with the design, the color (robin egg blue), and the function. Best to use filtered or distilled water and boil with level at minimum ~2 inches water (to reduce risk of salt/scale accumulation). Does not whistle, but boiling sound is great enough to know that it’s working.’
Another reviewer stated ‘This is such a great electric kettle. Very sturdy and heats water quickly. Much faster than our electric range. It was much larger in person than I thought it was going to be but it’s nice to not have to fill it with water whenever I want just one cup of tea. My husband is British and for him, you NEVER microwave water for tea so this helps a lot!’
