Decalcification

Decalcification refers to removing mineral deposits, which may form in the interior of the
kettle and may result in discoloration. To get the best performance from your kettle, decalcify it from time to time. Frequency will depend on the hardness of your water and how often you use the unit.

We suggest using a kettle descaler in order to dissolve these deposits or scale. Follow the directions on the descaler package. Alternatively, fill the kettle with enough white vinegar to cover the bottom by about ½ inch.
Heat the vinegar to a boil. Repeat this with cooled vinegar until all deposits are removed. When complete, empty the kettle and rinse with clean water.

Does what it’s supposed to but with some flaws

Got this to replace an old Braun electric kettle that was starting to leak from the water level window.

Positives: The lid stays attached so it’s easy to pop open and fill. Our old one had a quarter-turn removable lid that could be finicky. 1.7L water capacity is nice. Looks good. Cuisinart is (hopefully) a reliable brand; I chose those on the basis of a shining recommendation of a higher-end model of the same kettle.

Issues: It’s hard to see the water fill level while you’re holding/filling it, because it’s on the body under the handle. The body gets HOT when the water is hot (our old one’s plastic exterior seemed a little less conductive of the kettle’s heat) so you have to be careful handling it. The handle’s shape is also awkward when the kettle’s full.

Finally, it seems like it takes a longer time to heat than our old one did, but that may be a function of the greater water volume.

BEST GIFT EVER!

Just got mine in as a gift yesterday! Love this thing to death! No more thermometers in my cup. I filled it to the max and it only took 4-5 minutes for the water to finish heating up! Makes me so happy! I can make tea at my desk! Empty it is light weight and i can just take it back and forth to work. There is enough room to make a few cups of tea. The buttons are easy to press and light up and there is a filter in the spout which is awesome. The keep warm feature is fantastic if you are going to chain drink tea.

The only thing i would worry about is cleaning it. If you want to get in there the opening is too small to comfortably fit your hand through and you definitely will not get in there holding a sponge.
